Children who need fostering – profiles?

Profiles of children who need fostering

Here are some typical profiles received by Sparks Fostering for children who need the support of fostering homes:

Sibling group of 3

Urgent home needed for 2 sisters (ages 9 and 11) and one brother (age 13). No further information currently available due to urgency of the situation.

8 year old female

Child is currently in a fostering home and has made great progress over the 3 years in the home; however, the family does not feel that the child has settled in to the home as well and it may benefit her to consider a move to another home. The child’s interests do not align with the family, who are very active and like to be outdoors a lot. There are no behavioural issues with the child. She had a very traumatic start to life and needs a therapeutic approach so that she can continue to recover from the distress of the harm caused to her.

18m baby boy

Baby has been removed from his mother following a failed mother and baby assessment. Baby needs care until long term options are confirmed. Baby isn’t putting on weight as quickly as health professionals would like, which is likely to be due to poor feeding routine when with mother. Baby does not have any identified disabilities, but is also not meeting developmental milestones.

13 year old Sudanese boy

Has only been in the country a few months, but has not settled in his current foster home because the carers have not been able to meet his religious, cultural or ethnic needs. The boy is isolated from his community because he lives in a White British community and he would like to move to a foster home in a more diverse area.
