Sparks Fostering Team
I am one of the independent members of the team and have been a self-employed social worker for the last five years. My main work involves undertaking court directed parenting assessments, SGO’s and adoption work including assessments, matching and post placement support work for adopters and their children. This has in turn brought me into contact with many foster carers supporting children through transitions into permanency, in addition to having undertaken numerous Form F’s.
I have been a qualified social worker for the last 36 years working with children and families including children with disabilities and child protection, in local authorities and the voluntary sector, as a social worker and as a manager. I have also been a panel member and panel advisor. My focus throughout the work I have been involved with, is on the importance of remaining child centred at all times and ensuring that any decisions made for or on behalf of children are carried out with their best interest at its core.
I decided to become self-employed so I can choose to do the work I most enjoy and for work/life balance. I have two adult children who are teachers and a granddaughter who lights up my life and who I am committed to with childcare on a regular basis.
