Sparks Fostering Team
I’m a self-motivated individual who currently works as a foster support worker with Sparks fostering. My role is to offer support to foster parents with their children in their own homes and provide them with support and guidance on parenting.
I’m highly experienced in supporting individuals with multiple and complex needs and confident in managing challenging behaviour when presented. I’ve supervised clients who have been diagnosed with Learning Difficulties, ASD and ADHD as well as victims of domestic violence. My clients have experienced difficulty in protecting their children from harm, neglect and abuse and I ensure that safeguarding measures are implemented where I feel the children may be at risk again. Within my role, I’m committed to providing a high standard of person-centred care to my clients and aim to build positive relationships to ensure that the best outcome is achieved. I’m passionate in supporting my clients by implementing positive foster parenting methods and utilising the training available to ensure their foster children’s needs are being met.
I also have personal experience being the mother of an adopted child with LD and SEN and I’m aware of Attachment and Anxiety disorder first and foremost in my home setting and how challenging this can be.
Within my last role I managed a Semi-independent setting for young people who were moved out of area for their safety generally due to criminal and gang related activities, this has been challenging at times, but firm boundaries and listening to the young people, providing them with a secure base model has really made a difference.
