foster Carers with previous Social Care involvement
Applicants are asked at the start of assessment if they have had any involvement with social care and/or if anyone they know has had involvement with social care. Involvement with social care doesn’t prevent someone from becoming a foster carer; it depends very much on the reason and level of involvement.
As with all aspects of the assessment, full disclosure is expected. If the applicants withhold information, even for relatively minor incidents, it could be considered to be intentional deception and so the application would most likely be refused.
As part of the application checks, local authority checks would be completed for any addresses in the past 10 years (including international checks if necessary), and for any addresses where the applicant/s were caring for children.
