Muslim Children in Care

Gifts For Muslim Children In Care

Gifts for Muslim children in care *THIS IS NOW CLOSED AND WILL REOPEN IN RAMADAN 2025*

There are significant numbers of Muslim children and young adults who are going through challenges in their life and are being supported by services including social care, homeless services, and domestic violence refuges (to name a few). We can send a gift and an encouraging message to those who are struggling so they know that they are cared for.

The project is led by Sehar Hamdani, who grew up in non-Muslim foster homes and wasn’t taught about her culture or faith. The project is supported by Tay Jiva MBE (from Sparks Fostering, www.SparksFostering.org), and also supported by volunteers and community donors.

The gifts are tailored according to the needs of the children in care. An example of a pack may contain a Quran speaker with night lights (usual value £40), prayer tasbeeh counter (usual value £8), a padded prayer mat.

We expect Muslim children living in  Muslim homes should already have these items and a good connection to the Muslim community – so our gifts are directed towards Muslim children living in non-Muslim provision.
